End of life care and saying good bye

At some point families most families will have to face the heartbreaking question of whether it is time to say goodbye to their much‑loved pet.

We appreciate this could will be one of the hardest decisions you ever have to make and we are here to support you with compassion, honest advice and gentle guide you through this.

 

When might euthanasia be considered?

There are various reasons why euthanasia is considered.  Common reasons include where your pets quality of life and comfort is in decline, due to illness, injury and even age related issues. Our vets will try to offer viable options if available in your pet’s circumstances.  Should the time come when you think it’s time then we will be here to help you through this process.

 

What happens during euthanasia?

During a euthanasia appointment, our vets will explain what will happen during the procedure and are there to answer any questions.

You are welcome to stay until the end with your pet.  This is entirely up to you. Some people will find the process too upsetting and it is fine.  You may also change your mind during the procedure if it becomes too much.   You shouldn’t feel guilty if you cannot be there.  Our team will be there to make sure your pet’s final moments is dignified and calm.

We give clients the space to spend some time with their pet during and after the euthanasia to ensure they have time to say good bye.

 

What happens to my pet’s remains afterwards

You have various options for what happens to your pet’s remains. 

We offer various cremation choices.  Or some clients will chose a home burial.  If you wish to do a home burial, most of the time this is fine to do, so long as you bury your pet deep enough and if you don't own your property you have a landlord's permission to do so.  Be aware certain circumstances would make it illegal to do this such as you pet having an infectious diseases or treated with certain medications, this would breach government and environmental guidelines .

 

Cremation Services

Cremation services we offer are:

• Communal cremation whereby your pet is cremated with other pets, but the ashes won’t be returned to you

• Individual cremation whereby your pet will be individually cremated and their ashes returned to you.
